The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers |
I'm pretty sure that everybody remembers these guys from their own childhood!
Of course, it's the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! But what alot of us didn't even know for many years until the internet became more of what we know it as today is that this was actually a show from Japan which is also part of a long running series.

The title card for Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger
The show's footage was taken from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, (Dinosaur Squadron Beast Ranger) the 16th installment in the long running Super Sentai series of tokusatsu from Japan which ran from February, 21, 1992 until February 19, 1993.
The story is absolutely way different from the story of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! The story in Zyuranger is that 5 ancient human tribes from 170 million years ago, with the protection of the Guardian Beasts, who are the mecha for this installment of the series, existed peacefully and coexisted in harmony until an evil witch by the name of Bandora started a war with the dinosaurs all because of the death of her son, Kai!
Bandora destroyed all 5 of the ancient human tribes and the dinosaurs became extinct, and the Guardian Beasts sealed Bandora and her minions away on a planet named Nemesis before going into a 170 million year hibernation.
Fast forward to the year 1992, and Nemesis returns to the Earth's orbit. 2 Japanese astronauts accidentally and carelessly release Bandora and her minions from their prison. With Bandora finally free to wreak havoc on the world, the ancient wizard Barza is left with no choice but to retreat to his underground lair 2,000 meters underground below the apartment building where he works as a gardener in secret, and revives the 5 ancient warriors from the 5 ancient tribes who had been in suspended animation to be awakened and called upon once again when the time would arise.
Also, something else that all you Power Rangers fans may not have known is that the zords for season 2 were taken from the 17th show in the Super Sentai series, Gosei Sentai Dairanger which translates into English as Five Star Squadron Dairanger, which was also where all the footage for the Mighty Morphin White Ranger was taken from, where he is known as Kibaranger!
And another thing to also point out that some of the characters as well as the Ninja Zords, and Shogun Zords as well as the alien rangers of Aquitar, and the villains Master Vile and Rito Revolto were originally from the 18th show in the long running Super Sentai series, Ninja Sentai Kakuranger.
Also, this Sentai hasn't been completely fan-subbed which is truly a shame! Elite Justice Fansubs has tried fan-subbing the series, but only got up to episode 10. Then Grown Ups In Spandex picked it up and only released episode 11, and now TV-Nihon has started fan-subbing the series from the beginning and has now gotten up to episode 5 so far, so lets hope that they finish the entire series.
Another fan-subbing group known as the Henshin Organization has been fan-subbing Gosei Sentai Dairanger and has gotten up to episode 25 so far and plan on subbing the entire show! TV-Nihon has also been fan-subbing this show, but I mostly prefer Henshin Organization's fan-sub more.
As for Ninja Sentai Kakuranger ever being completely fan-subbed, there was a group known as Bara Fubuki which did the very first episode and stopped because they were looking for a translator which was back on June 30 of 2007 and the show was never finished for unknown reasons which is both very lame as well as very sad at the same time because Kakuranger is one of those Sentai shows that I would really like to see fan-subbed all the way through.
Here's hoping that someone like Henshin Organization or TV-Nihon or anybody else out there in the fan subbing community picks this show up and decides to completely fan-sub it sometime in the future! And for those of you who don't speak Japanese, Henshin is the Japanese word for transform. |
